Tonight, after working with community members, tenants, and rent control experts, I am so pleased to have been able to introduce legislation that would create common-sense rent control in Montclair.
Tenants have been without protections from unreasonable increases and today we start to start to end that practice. These common sense measures will protect residents from precipitous rent hikes, and protect our community from losing the diversity that makes Montclair so special.
I want to thank my colleagues who joined me in supporting this critical legislation and I look forward to continuing to work together to preserve the Montclair ideal.
