Four years ago, Montclair and Aquilonia, Italy officially cemented our strong ties by becoming sister cities. Despite 4,448 miles of separation, we maintain a close relationship, as many of our community members of Italian descent have family ties to the area near Aquilonia.
On July 20, the Township Council memorialized our strong bond with Aquilonia by introducing an ordinance to designate on an honorary basis the portion of Pine Street between Claremont Avenue and Grant Street as “Aquilonia Way.” I am excited to recognize our global connections by honoring a town across the Atlantic that shares Montclair’s values, like environmental leadership, cultural exchange, and the empowerment of youth.
